Volunteer with Regent

This club runs on people like you.

Why volunteer?

Regent is a nonprofit, volunteer-powered club. Keeping soccer inclusive, fun, and affordable for every family depends on parents, grandparents, alumni, and neighbors pitching in. Volunteering is also the best seat in the house — you’ll know your kid’s teammates, their families, and your neighborhood a little better by the end of the season.

No soccer background required for most roles. We’ll give you the training, tools, and support you need.

Coaching Roles

Head Coach

Lead a team for the season — run practices, coach games, and set the tone for a positive, development-first experience. For our youngest age groups, “coaching” looks a lot like organized fun: small games, lots of touches on the ball, lots of high fives. You do not need playing experience to coach our youngest players. We provide practice plans, curriculum, and support from club staff.

Assistant Coach

Support a head coach at practices and games. This is a great first step if you’re curious about coaching but not ready to run the show. Many of our head coaches started exactly here.

Practice Helper

Can’t commit to the full season? Join as an extra set of hands at practice — setting up drills, keeping small groups moving, and cheering kids on.

Non-Coaching Roles

Not every volunteer needs a whistle. Some of the club’s most important work happens off the field:

Team Manager

Be your team’s communication hub: schedules, game-day logistics, and keeping families in the loop. If you’re the organized one in your house, this is your role.

Board & Committees

Help steer the club. We welcome members for [board seats and committees — e.g., marketing, sponsorship, fundraising, registration]. Professional skills like accounting, communications, design, and event planning are especially valuable.

Event & Tournament Help

Field setup and teardown, check-in tables, concessions, and making tournament weekends run smoothly. Perfect for one-day or one-weekend commitments.

Volunteer FAQs

Do I need soccer experience?

For most roles, no. Our youngest teams need enthusiastic adults far more than they need tactical experts, and we provide practice plans and training for new coaches. For non-coaching roles, no soccer knowledge is needed at all.

How much time does it take?

It ranges. Coaching a team is typically 2 practices per week plus weekend games during the spring and fall seasons. Team managers spend a couple of hours a week. Event and tournament roles can be a single afternoon. Tell us what you can give — we’ll find a fit.

Do volunteers need a background check?

Yes. Like all MAYSA-member clubs, everyone who works directly with players completes a background check before the season. It’s quick, free to you, and helps us keep every kid safe.

Can I coach my own kid’s team?

Absolutely — most of our coaches do. It’s one of the best ways to be part of your child’s season.

I can’t volunteer regularly. Can I still help?

Yes! One-time roles like tournament weekends and events are some of our biggest needs. Even a few hours makes a difference.

Is volunteering required?

No, volunteering is optional!
